Jonah or Jonas, in the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh/Old Testament), is a prophet of the northern kingdom of Israel in about the 8th century is the central figure of the Book of Jonah, in which he is called upon by God to travel to Nineveh and warn its residents of impending divine d, Jonah boards a ship to in a storm, he orders the ship's crew to cast him overboard Born: 9th century BCE. The Snail and the Whale is a delightful tale of adventure and friendship from the bestselling Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, creators of The Gruffalo. This special festive edition features the classic story with a gorgeous wintry cover design - perfect for sharing together with the whole family.

This is Whale Week at the Newberry. The exhibit in honor of Herman Melville opens, the Rosenberg Bookshop breaks out in whale books and accounts of early Polynesia, and a marathon reading of Moby Dick, at which you can listen to the entire novel as a platoon of volunteers steps up to the podium, will occupy our first floor for about 25 hours.   Instead, his tale is of one running from God, and the plot of the story focuses on Jonah’s conversion back to following God’s command over him convincing others. It is a direct and personal story among works that focus more on law and society as a whole.

The Snail and the Whale is packed full of words containing /s/ blends and words ending in /l/, so also a fantastic choice for little ones working on these sounds. * Special thanks to Leah Lomiansky for this book recommendation For further speech and language targets in The Snail and the Whale, see the list below.
